What does a career in e-learning look like? Where are the jobs in instructional design?
According to the University of North Texas,
Graduates of the IST track are prepared to work as lead instructional designers, instructional technology developers or directors and evaluators of instructional design projects, processes, and outcomes in corporate, higher education, K-20, and other instructional and training environments.
Jobs which result from searches for “instructional design” on simplyhired.com and other job websites are generally large companies looking for in-house specialists who can design staff training materials. Almost all specify the need for knowledge of animation and graphics software such as Flash and Photoshop.
An excellent resource in this regard is Ann Gordon’s website. It details six typical jobs for those qualified in instructional design, along with job descriptions, skills and software knowledge needed.
